No matter how many great ideas, effective strategies, or unique opportunities you have, if you don't learn the art of mastering yourself, you will not succeed. Yet despite this knowledge, so many refuse to take the time to achieve this goal.

A few years back, I was putting so much energy into my business and related projects. As a result, I had neglected to take time for my own wellness. I kept pushing harder and harder until my body broke down. After spending several days unable to get out of bed, I made the decision to make some major changes when it came to my health. Yes. I am as stubborn as everyone else.

Identify a current area of struggle to gain mastery over

This last year, I have committed to conquering several long-standing fears I have had in relation to finances. What area of your life are you struggling with, or avoiding to master? Perhaps, like myself, it could be your health. Maybe, it is gaining control over certain emotions or developing better relationships skills.

I would encourage you to realize as I did, when major aspects of your life are out balance they will derail your efforts to succeed. Take the the time to master these main segments of your life, such as health, relationships, your emotions, and spirituality in the sense of having a deeper meaning and purpose to your life.

Sustaining long-term success and satisfaction

I would also add self-care activities: things you find pleasure and enjoyment in; activities that fill you, such as acts of service or creative endeavors; and time for physical recuperation, such as massage or rest.

Take the time and effort to master yourself in these key areas. This will lead to an increased ability to achieve your goals. But even more important it will allow you to sustain long-term success and experience satisfaction in the process. As the saying goes, "What does it profit a person to gain the world and lose their soul?" The ultimate success is not just obtaining your external goals but simultaneously mastering the art of fulfillment. You are capable of attaining both. Begin practicing the discipline required today to master yourself.
