One of the fastest routes to success to the study the lives of exceptional people. There are priceless clues and principles to be mined from examining their strategies and mindset. The most valuable aspect to be gleaned from their experience is not the decisions they made but the mentality behind them.
I recall reading the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series in the early 2000's. This led me to think about money, employment, and investing in a whole new way. The result was I began investing and working towards putting myself in the position to be a business owner rather than an employee. I friend of mine took notice of the changes I was making and asked me what was going on with me. I told him about the concepts in the books. He then asked me if he could read the first one in the series.
Mindset is more crucial than strategy
The first book focused a lot on mindset. My friend returned the book and expressed his disappointment. He said there wasn't enough about how to become wealthy and successful. I told him it wouldn't matter if you knew what to do if you did not have the right frame of mind to do it. Unfortunately for him, he continues to struggle financially and continued to spend his days doing something he does not really enjoy.
When you study the lives of successful people, the most valuable clue they leave is their thought process. This is far more important than any strategic advice they could give you. They will all confirm this hands down. Get this before acquiring anything else.
Today, there are countless source of obtaining this information: YouTube; podcasts; blogs, Ted Talks; articles, etc. There is a mountain of information out there on what the top achievers have done and how to implement it. Take advantage of it. There is no reason not to succeed. Find what you love. Scale it. Develop the right mindset. Be kind, and persevere. That's the formula. It may not be sexy, but it works.
