When Success Flowed Without Effort

Everyone has had a moment where everything just flowed easily. Creativity was effortless, and ideas and thoughts seemed to come spontaneously. Why does it seem so challenging and infrequent to experience these types of states? Contrastingly, there are times it seems like you are an adolescent in a room full of adults or running in cement. What causes one or the other? For most, the answer remains elusive and mysterious.

The answer lies in memory and emotion. There is a certain type of memory known as implicit memory, which is experienced as a felt sense in the body. It is an emotional memory. It comes without images, so you don’t realize you are having a memory. Moreover, this part of the brain cannot distinguish between the past – people, time, or place. It sees everything as the same. The memory triggers certain emotions and accompanying perspectives of your environment but can also be activated by an emotion. It is reciprocal in nature.

You At Your Very Best

When experiencing a positive, or empowering, emotional state, you see yourself as competent, others and the environment realistically, and feel energized. It is you at your best.

Lasting motivation comes when we change our biology, not our psychology.

Other implicit memories cause you to see yourself as inadequate in some way, others and the environment become distorted and larger than life, and they shut down your adaptive energy.

Shifting Into Your "Self-At-Best" State

The long-term solution is integrating these implicit memories into the present through emotional processing so you can no longer be pulled into them. Prior to completion of this process, the key is learning how to shift into your self-at-best state. This is accomplished through accessing certain emotions and interpersonal interactions that unlock your peak potential.

Once you have identified the situations and emotions that unleash your self-at-best state, it is through focused attention and tracking of the felt sense in your body that enables you to access them. In addition, remaining oriented to the energy in the body for an extended period of time allows what is referred as neuroplasticity to take place. This is when the brain and the nervous system make new neural connections allowing this state to expand and deepen. This goes beyond motivation and hype and creates a new biological you, allowing you to manifest your full potential more frequently and to a greater extent.

Ready to Shift to Your Best Self Today?

One of the most encouraging parts of this process is it can take place in such a brief amount of time, seconds in some instances, after you become skilled at it. Moreover, no matter how many negative implicit memories you may have, it cannot impede accessing your self-at-best states. In addition, the more negative experiences you have survived, the more strength and resilience you have developed. It only needs to be accessed to harness its possibilities.
