The longer I work with people, and the more back stories I hear, the more I have come to realize that by and large everyone is basically doing the best they can. We are often so quick to judge or critique others. But we don't know what they have been through or are struggling with in the present. And believe me, everyone has a story.

This has led me to do my best to just be kind to people. There is so much suffering in the world on all levels. If everyone would practice kindness even moderately consistently, it would change the world. Sometimes it takes almost nothing to be kind but a little self-awareness. At other times, it seems like a Herculean effort.

Who are we to judge?

There are many positive things taking place on social media that are amazing. However, on the other side we have scaled judgment and gossip. We all need to take a good, hard look at ourselves and assess what gets in the way of us being kind more consistently. I am not successful in all my attempts, but I am committed to practicing kindness regularly and overcoming my own blocks to doing so when they occur.

When you have sat with so much pain, the things most people become conflicted and entrenched over seem pretty much irrelevant. I am imploring all of us to just be kind. We are all in such desperate need of it. Who are we to judge anyone else's life. No one can fully walk in another's shoes.

Practicing kindness towards yourself

Make the commitment today to make kindness a routine practice. Although you are doing this for others, you will find you will benefit more than anyone. Exercising kindness with bring more peace, joy, and fulfillment into your life on a daily basis.

Lastly, I would encourage you to be particularly kind to the most difficult person in your life, which is usually yourself. You are worthy and deserving of kindness. Furthermore, you will find the more you are kind to yourself, the more you will be kind to others. Sometimes we overcomplicate life so much. Just be kind!
