"Do you think I'm capable of achieving my goals in therapy," is a question I hear frequently. I tell each of my clients with absolute confidence, "If you don't quit, you will succeed, guaranteed!"

I have never had one single client who persisted to the end of their work with me not succeed. Imagine that! How motivated would you be if I could provide complete assurance of a successful outcome. How often in life can you receive such certainty? It's inspiring to me even as I write this. I've searched repeatedly through my memories and cannot come up with a single individual who did not not attain everything the desired if they did not stop working at it.

It is a life principle, the more you invest in something the more you value it. Think of the opposite - the trust fund baby who gets a new car every time they wreck another one.

If you don't quit, you will succeed - guaranteed

Having patience and persistence not only conquers all, but the victory is so much sweeter as a result of the cost you paid. Furthermore, you don't need to be the most talented or naturally gifted to succeed. You just have to be the last kid hanging onto the monkey bars. We're so inspired by observing this in others. Go see the movie, Rudy, if you want a great real life example of this, a true story by the way.

After you have identified what is so meaningful and important about your goal, just don't quit. Be patient, persistent, and be courageous! Fill your mind with every book, video, and piece of music you can find that encourages this endeavour. Then just hang in there. I promise you if you don't quit, you will succeed. To reference the movie, Galaxy Quest, "Never give up," "Never surrender:)"
