Good Things Are Coming

As soon as you start to pursue any goal or dream, you will begin to encounter problems; this is inevitable. I've written before about how the meaning you place on these challenges affects your brain. The way you frame it actually will facilitate or impede your ability to deal effectively with it on a cellular level.

Another factor that has a tremendous impact on overcoming obstacles on your path to success is your level of belief. Belief will sustain the necessary energy leading to the required actions to attain your goal. But how do you maintain your level of belief when your getting sand kicked in your face by circumstances around you?

Resources for maintaining your belief

I have found several resources that help support my level of belief: visualization, inspiration, and my spirituality. Perhaps, you have attempted visualization and became discouraged with your lack of results. The primary reason most people fail at visualization is due to the fact they develop an image but cannot feel it emotionally. Seeing the image in your mind without an emotional connection will do little to help you raise, or maintain, belief in your ability to achieve it.

You have to feel it for it to be transformative. When you see an image in your mind, that part of your brain does not distinguish internal from external reality. This is why we cry or experience fear when watching a move. When you develop an image of obtaining your desired goal, you need to sit with it as long as necessary, and as many times as needed, until you feel it as a lived reality.

Belief changes biology

Doing so will actually begin to change you on a cellular level. The chemical release we refer to as emotions will influence your genes to begin to construct the person you see in your image today. If you really allow yourself to think about this, you will come to the understanding of how unbelievably crazy and powerful this is. If you even come close to grasping this, it will get you practicing it consistently today. I promise, you will be shocked at the results you begin to experience.

The second aspect to maintaining belief is inspiration. We are hit with situations regularly that discourage us. This is okay; we are human. Even the best of us become demotivated and down at times. To combat this, I have developed a list of books, videos, and relationships I can draw from that re-inspire and encourage me. If you do not have one, begin building yours today. This has been one of the most consistent resources that has kept me motivated in the face of setbacks and failures.

Using spirituality to achieve your goals

The main feature in my list of resources for sustaining belief is my spirituality. You do not have to ascribe to any specific religion or belief system to practice spirituality. At its essence, it is being deeply connected to your authentic self, others, and something greater than yourself. You are not an island but exist in relationships and within a bigger context.

We also have learned much in the last decades through quantum physics about how the universe works, specifically in relation to field theory. This is more extensive than I can get into in this format, but there is scientific evidence between how the brain works and quantum physics to validate you attract not only what you focus on but what your energy is aligned with emotionally.

As someone with a strong work ethic, this has been one of the most difficult areas to implement consistently. Where is the line between doing my part and allowing God, The Universe, or a Higher Power space to do its part?

Where is the line between effort and surrender?

I am constantly growing in this area. The indicators I am doing too much on my end is discouragement, frustration, and anxiety. When I experience these markers, I know I need to take a step back. I also have to regularly evaluate are my goals and aspirations aligned with love and service towards others? If I am not in alignment with how God or the Universe works, I am going to struggle.

When this occurs, I attempt to be honest with myself and often find there is more self-interest than I was initially aware of or wanted to acknowledge. My ego can be tricky. Sometimes my struggles are love's way of making me aware of this reality to allow me to continue to grow and heal.

I encourage you to utilize these three resources in your efforts to maintain the level of belief necessary to achieve your vision. Moreover, if your dreams and goals are aligned with love, you will have the support of how the universe works behind you. If this is the case, rest assured good things are coming. Maintain focus on the vision you have developed or been given. Remain committed, persistent, and hopeful, and will undoubtedly acquire what you desire.
