When you continue to obsess about the setbacks and mistakes of today, you keep your biology locked into recreating the chemicals and physiology of failure. Whatever you visualize and think about releases emotions related to these events.
Emotions are chemical reactions in your body carrying information and energy. These chemical reactions influence how your genes are expressed. This process is known as epigenetics. Your genes will influence how your body creates new proteins and reconstructs itself on an ongoing basis. If you are habitually focused on your failures, you will recurrently create a person who is incapable of success.
Emotion is the key to visualization
The opposite of this is true as well. If you take the time to visualize yourself succeeding, your brain will release emotions associated with this occurring. This part is key and why visualization does not produce effective results for a lot of you. You have to continue to practice it until you experience a high level of emotion related to attaining your visualized goal. Only then will it have the genetic impact sufficient to create the new you.
Really think about that for a moment. You can physically create the successful you now prior to actually achieving your goals. The true impact is that you can become the person in the present you need to be to actually succeed in the future making it more likely you will. All of this is not voodoo or New Age; this is hard core neuroscience, biology, and physics. My hope is that if you understand this on a deeper level, you will be more motivated to engage in this practice on a consistent basis.
You can experience the feeling of success now
In my own life, I have achieved everything I have visualized, even those things that I have only half heartedly done so. After learning about the science behind visualization, I am acting with a greater level of intention on my current dreams and aspirations. Take the time today to begin this practice. There is no telling what you can realize. Stop recreating your past and old self. You can become successful now, even before you have accomplished your future objective.
