"An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
So many people are waiting for the perfect idea or time to act. In reality, that perfect situation doesn't exist.
The majority of the time success begins by getting moving. Do not stand on the sideline waiting for guaranteed victory before getting into the game. There is no way to win until you get in the game and play it
An antidote to 'analysis paralysis' is taking action. Take a step no matter how small. There is tremendous value in creating momentum. A very accomplished client of mine told me the problem he sees most people have is waiting for the perfect idea. After building a very successful business, he's learned a critical lesson. Success doesn't go to the person with the best idea, but to the one who's best at implementing it.
Everything You Do Has Value
Become great at something. This will likely lead to success no matter what that something is. To achieve this goal requires practice and experience. Moreover, in my experience, everything you do has value.
Don't allow yourself to be one of the vocal majority who has a thousand 'great' ideas and has done none. It is easier to steer a moving vehicle than a stationary one. Find an action to take every day no matter how small. You are never completely stuck. There is always something you can do; even attempting to figure out what to do is doing something.
Identify a place to act no matter how small
If you are already taking action, great, keep moving. If you feel stuck in your life today, identify an area to get a win no matter how small. And remember, everything you do has value. Even the most menial tasks performed with excellence will develop a better mindset. This will add to your future success.
We've all experienced moments in our history in which we were helpless and powerless to act. These states are often reenacted in the present leaving us immobilized and frozen. When you take action on something, no matter how small, you get into a more empowered state. This will help you avoid dissociating into a "body memory" of being helpless.
Challenge yourself today to get out there and do something. You are capable and always have a choice in how you respond to any event. Now get going!
